Underdog Records first established in 1993 was a small underground Jungle Techno/ Drum & Bass record label releasing short runs of 12" vinyl records and based in Bournemouth. It spawned several other small labels including Stormtrooper Recordings and Burning Bush Communications. The Dj contacts gained through the promo mailing lists of these labels combined with a gap in the market left by the closure of legendary Bournemouth nightclub, Madisons in the mid nineties and the amazing good fortune of the opening of The Manor at Matchams around the same time , led to the creation of the now infamous "Destiny" hardcore & drum & bass raves/clubnights. A record shop "Destiny Records" opened for business around 1997, several more small record labels spun off the back of that, a small import & distribution operation for underground 12" vinyl incuding Italian Hardtsyle amongst other genres followed. The Destiny events booked every major name in D&b and hardcore of the era aswell as hosting tour nights from the likes of Metalheadz, Slammin Vinyl, United dance, Random Concept, One Nation, Bonkers, Ram Records, Logical Progression + more. After the closure of the Manor in 1999 Destiny held events at Route 42/The Vision, The Old Firestation and Millenium in the Bournemouth area before opening their own small venue "Club Destiny" in 2004. After the closure of Club Destiny, Destiny was invited to the home of Slinky - The Opera House and the Destiny10th birthday was our biggest event to date, but after 10 years the Destiny brand is under new ownership and we took a much need break.
Now after this extended break from the scene, Underdog Recordings is back in buiness, reactivated by Jedi Recordings + Vinly Fanatiks collaborations, with new material coming from new artists and a new studio - on a mission to recreate the mid ninieties vibes and positivity and bring them into a modern world that would definately benefit. We believe in the power of music to bring people together, it has been our pleasure to hook up with old friends after, in some cases decades, but picking up where we left off, aswell as forging new friendships in the process and if we can flog a few T-shirts along the way to help pay the bills then its all good. We are building a Def Star...
