TPT110 - Acerbic - Doom Circuit EP
Glossy sleeve.
UK underground legend Acerbic, aka Ant, Chicago Loop and many other aliases, returns to Perc Trax after the huge success of his Acerbic remix of Perc's 'Imperial Leather' last year. A regular on labels such as Stay Up Forever, Cluster, Hydraulix, Maximum Minimum and his own Power Tools label, now it is time for his overdue first full EP for Perc Trax.
Across the four tracks on the Doom Circuit EP, Acerbic sets out his vision of club techno. Hard driving and powerful with a constant sense of forward momentum.
Opening track 'Doom Circuit' has been a key part of Perc's sets for months now. Acid techno without the acid, as a succession of computer bleeps take over the role a 303 would usually play. Next up, 'Lukla' floats echoing lead lines, looping house music stabs and just a touch of London underground acid to create a fusion of key underground sounds.
B1 track 'Metroliner' is the most energetic track on the EP, as a stomping kick and clap rhythm is topped off with synth stabs reminiscent of Luke Slater's classic 'Forklift'. Finally, 'Helter-Skelter' takes things down a notch to finish the EP, with more focus on percussion intricacy, making it the perfect mixing tool for the more creative DJ.
