Jimmy J & Cru-l-t - The Rebuilds EP - Remix Records - REC44 - Old Skool Rave - 12" Clear and Rainbow Splatter Vinyl

A1: Take Me Away (Rebuilt)

B1. Six Days (Rebuilt)

B2. Runaway (Rebuilt)

These three tracks were rebuilt by Luna-C aka Cru-l-t, using the original samples and studio hardware, but adding modern day techniques. This was done out of love for the original tracks, and because they were made 30 years ago and the artists felt that all three tracks could do with a polish.
Each rebuild received a varying amount of work, depending on what was needed, but in each case the central format and samples used has remained unchanged. Take Me Away was barely changed at all as far as content goes, adding only a vocal intro before the initial intro beats drop. But it has been re-eqed from the ground up, the vocals time stretched to be the correct pitch rather than sped up, the bassline fixed so it is in tune, and it has had many small and subtle edits to improve it overall. Six Days was similar in what changes were needed to punch through when played with today's music, the vocals time stretched instead of pitched up, little edits and changes here and there, but as with Take Me Away, it was mostly things like compression on the drums and overall eq work that really makes the difference.
Runaway required a little more work than the other two, as it was extremely basic originally, and some effects were added and slight changes were made to the format.
In all three cases, the original samples, but also, crucially, the original hardware was used, so the tracks remain authentic, just...better made.
Jimmy J and Cru-l-t feel these versions are superior in every way to the originals - they also love the originals, warts and all, and think both the originals and the rebuilds have their own place, depending on what you feel like listening to.
